Imbiber Pinot Noir is a great result from our small vineyard situated on the 5 Star Mt Rosa Lodge property. Recently released the Imbiber Pinot Noir 08 is the very first vintage from this small, unique and privately owned site.
This wine is made on a very small scale, only 5 barrels produced and the vineyard is meticulously tended by Mt Rosa Lodge owner Brian.
The fruit is ripened in bright, clear air carrying the scents of mountain flowers and herbs. The clarity of that environment is evident in the delicate texture and supple structure on the wine.
The wine making philosophy is to allow the essence of that site to come through in the wine. In other words, this is the wine as nature intended with no clever wine making tricks to impose our own idea of style.
The grapes were handpicked on 29th April 2008, de-stemmed and fermented in a small stainless steel fermenter. The wine has been aged for 11months in French barriques and has not been filtered.
Alan Brady, pioneer Gibbston wine maker has handcrafted this wine, used rich, ripe fruit to produce a beautifully balanced fresh, fruity and seductive Pinot Noir showing all the delicacy, elegance and fine tannin structure we come to expect from Gibbston fruit.
Deidre Copeland, a renowned facescapes artist has kindly allowed us to use her ‘The Imbiber’ painting of Brian as our wine label and so the Imbiber Pinot Noir 2008 was born.
Imbiber Pinot Noir is best enjoyed on the terrace overlooking the vines to spectacular views beyond or by the roaring fire at Mt Rosa Lodge.
Guests at Mt Rosa Lodge are able to walk through the vines with Brian, their host for an informative talk or actively participate in vineyard activities.
