Viticulturist: Timbo

Timbo Deaker

Timbo Deaker brings over three decades of rich, hands-on experience to the Central Otago wine scene. His viticulturist journey began in 1992, working alongside Alan Brady at Gibbston Valley Wines, before heading to Blenheim to formally study viticulture in 1993.

From there, Timbo’s passion for wine took him across the globe—from Chard Farm in Central Otago to a winery exchange in California, a vintage in East Sussex, and even time spent exploring traditional Sherry production in southern Spain. He further honed his skills in the Barossa Valley at Yalumba, one of Australia’s most iconic wineries.

Returning home to Central Otago, Timbo co-managed vineyards, established a vine nursery operation, and went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma in Viticulture and Oenology at Lincoln University in 1999. With deep roots in the region and a truly global perspective, Timbo’s expertise helps shape the integrity and character of every vine we grow.
